Former covered market in central Brussels, built in 1881-1882 by architect Adolphe Vanderheggen in Flemish neo-Renaissance style on the site of the vanished Saint-Géry island; a market until 1977 and protected since 1987, the metal-framed halls now serve as an exhibition and event venue, with a heritage information centre in place since 1999.
