Cistercian abbey founded in 1146, the oldest of the 'three Provençal sisters' alongside Sénanque and Silvacane, built of local stone between 1160 and 1180. UNESCO regards it as the most accomplished example of Cistercian architecture; restored between 1985 and 1990, it now serves as a museum and concert venue.
