The Fondation d'entreprise Pernod Ricard has supported emerging French artists since 1997. Long established near the Madeleine, it now occupies a street-level exhibition space at the foot of the group's headquarters on the cours Paul Ricard, behind the Gare Saint-Lazare; a bookshop and a cafe adjoin it, and the whole opens straight onto the street. The foundation builds no collection: it produces. Each season a guest curator devises a cycle of exhibitions with artists at the start of their careers, alongside performances, readings, screenings and an online editorial programme, TextWork, which commissions critical essays. The prize the foundation has awarded every year since 1999 exhibits its nominees and has launched a good part of the contemporary French scene. Admission is entirely free, as are the drop-in guided tours on Wednesdays at noon and 6pm and Saturdays at noon and 4pm, and group visits by arrangement. The space opens Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 7pm, with a late night on Wednesday until 9pm and Mondays by appointment, and closes from 1 to 17 August.
