Lafayette Anticipations is the corporate foundation of the Galeries Lafayette, housed since 2018 in a former industrial building on the rue du Platre in the heart of the Marais. Rem Koolhaas and OMA kept the 19th-century brick shell and slid a glazed exhibition tower inside it, with floor plates that move vertically: the shape of the galleries literally changes from one show to the next. The foundation is not only a place to exhibit, it is a production workshop. It funds and builds on site, in its own studios, the works of the artists and designers it invites - textile, metal, ceramic, digital - and then shows them in the building. The programme combines exhibitions, performances, concerts, workshops for all ages and sustained work with emerging artists. Exhibitions, individual visits, workshops and family activities are free; only concerts and performances are ticketed, at 12 EUR. The foundation opens Wednesday to Sunday and takes a long summer break in August.
