Founded in 1823 by the Comte de Bizemont-Prunelé, the museum has occupied the Hôtel Cabu since 1862, a Renaissance mansion known as the house of Diane de Poitiers. It preserves the Neuvy-en-Sullias hoard, an exceptional group of Gallic and Gallo-Roman bronzes, medieval sculpture, and mementos of the Loire and of Joan of Arc.
