Opened in 1966 in a building by the architect Paul Pamart, the museum originally brought together fine art and lace, before the lace collection moved to another site in 2009. It holds Flemish and Dutch paintings, including works by Gerrit van Honthorst and Frans Snyders, and modern French works.
