Set in the château built from the 11th century by the monks of Lérins atop Le Suquet, the museum was born in 1877 from the donation of the Dutch baron Tinco Lycklama à Nijeholt. It brings together Mediterranean antiquities and the arts of Oceania, the Arctic, the Himalayas and pre-Columbian America, around a medieval watchtower.
