Carthusian monastery in the Val Graziosa near Calci, Tuscany, founded on 30 May 1366 by Archbishop Francesco Moricotti of Pisa and inhabited by monks until 1970. Rebuilt in Baroque style through the 18th century, with a church front marked by a double-ramp staircase, its western wing has housed the University of Pisa's Natural History Museum since 1981, including one of Europe's largest cetacean galleries and Italy's largest freshwater aquarium.
