Founded in 1987, Le Crédac moved in 2011 to the third floor of the Manufacture des Œillets and received the Ministry of Culture's "centre d'art contemporain d'intérêt national" label in September 2018. Directed since 2003 by Claire Le Restif, it works as a place of production and experimentation for French and international artists, and puts on a handful of solo and group exhibitions each year in which painting, photography, video, sculpture and performance meet. The building alone justifies the trip. Built in 1913 on the American daylight-factory model, with fully glazed façades, it is one of the earliest examples of functionalism in France; metal eyelets and shoemaking machinery were manufactured here. Converted from the 1990s onwards, it now houses several cultural venues, a short walk from Mairie d'Ivry metro station. Admission is free. Open Wednesday to Friday 2pm-6pm, Saturday and Sunday 2pm-7pm; closed Mondays, Tuesdays and public holidays. The exhibition rooms are accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs and a lift serves the floor; animals are not allowed, apart from guide dogs. The centre is currently on its summer break and will reopen with Pedro Barateiro's "Mano manca", from 13 September to 13 December 2026.
