Founded in 1820 and renamed in 1959 after the Perpignan-born portraitist Hyacinthe Rigaud, the museum has united the Hôtel de Lazerme and the Hôtel de Mailly since 2017. It presents Catalan Gothic art, portraits by Rigaud, and modern works by Picasso, Maillol and Dufy.
