Heir to the cabinet of natural history assembled in the 18th century by the naturalist Jean Hermann, it is jointly run by the city and the University of Strasbourg. Reopened in September 2025 after six years of renovation, it displays, among other things, the Blaschka glass models, a coelacanth and an Atlas lion.
