The sole surviving part of the property acquired in 1844 by Gustave Flaubert's father at Croisset, on the banks of the Seine, where the writer lived for thirty-five years and composed his entire body of work. Listed as a historic monument in 1914, the pavilion preserves his writing implements, portraits and personal mementoes, including a gilded Buddha.
