The oldest monastery on Capri, built in 1371 by Count Giacomo Arcucci on land donated by Queen Joanna I of Naples for Carthusian monks, with a Renaissance-era cloister added after pirate raids. Secularised under Joachim Murat in 1808 and later used as barracks and a military prison, it has housed a museum devoted to the painter Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach since 1975, and in 2024 became home to the National Archaeological Museum of Capri, with about 120 artifacts spanning the Republican to medieval periods.
