Museum at Castellammare di Stabia named after Libero D'Orsi, the schoolteacher-turned-archaeologist whose excavations from 1950 uncovered the luxury Roman villas of ancient Stabiae, a seaside resort destroyed alongside Pompeii by the 79 CE eruption of Vesuvius. Housed in the former Aragonese royal hunting lodge of Quisisana, it displays frescoes, mosaics and finds from Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna.
