Baroque residence built from 1634 for Francesco I d'Este on the site of a medieval castle, designed by Bartolomeo Avanzini. Its state rooms are decorated with extensive frescoes led by the French painter Jean Boulanger, including the Galleria di Bacco and the Salone delle Guardie celebrating the Este dynasty.
