State archaeological museum founded in 1914 by archaeologist Luigi Adriano Milani, one of Italy's earliest decentralized museums, closed in 1972 when its collection moved to Florence and reopened in 2011. Its hilltop building, designed with forms evoking Etruscan temples and cinerary urns, displays material from an Etruscan necropolis of the 4th-1st centuries BC uncovered during construction work between 1903 and 1911.
