National archaeological park at Capo di Ponte in Val Camonica protecting two large boulders bearing the valley's earliest documented rock carvings, first recorded in 1909 by geographer Gualtiero Laeng. Engraved with animals, weapons and daily-life scenes during the Copper Age, the rocks stand within a small sanctuary area that was expanded and formally inaugurated as a national park in 2005.
