Benedictine abbey founded in 785 by Count Roger of Limoges under the protection of Charlemagne, famed for its relic of the Holy Prepuce and for a rotunda plan unique in France. All that survives is the octagonal lantern tower known as the Tour Charlemagne, 37 metres high, along with fragments of the cloister and chapter house.
