Niort's multidisciplinary museum, opened in 2006 in the former girls' secondary school built in 1897 by the architect Georges Lasseron. It bears the name of the Niort painter Bernard d'Agesci, founder of the town's first public library and drawing school, and brings together fine arts from the 16th to the 19th century, natural history, and a collection on the history of education.
