Residence of the Dukes of Lorraine, built from 1703 to 1723 for Leopold I, largely to designs by Germain Boffrand, and nicknamed the "Lorraine Versailles." King Stanislas held his court there and died there in 1766; ravaged by fire in 2003, the château is currently under restoration.
