18th-century château in the Berry region, inherited by George Sand in 1821 and where she settled permanently in 1853 after hosting Chopin, Liszt, Balzac, Flaubert and Delacroix; she died there in 1876. The house preserves her furniture, natural history collections, and the puppet theatre created by her son Maurice in 1847.
