Residence built between 1443 and 1451 for Jacques Cœur, a wealthy merchant ennobled by Charles VII, in a Flamboyant Gothic style anticipating the Renaissance. Four wings arranged around a courtyard hold carved fireplaces, a chapel decorated with his coat of arms, and eight spiral staircases carved with the shells and hearts that were his emblem.
