Born in the 1840s and enriched by the patron Frédéric Blandin, the museum reopened on 27 September 2013 in a former Benedictine abbey paired with a contemporary extension. It holds nearly 2,500 pieces of Nevers faience, a group of enamelled spun-glass work unique to Nevers, and paintings by Seurat, Derain and Modigliani.
