Nicknamed 'the Blue Museum', this departmental museum, designed by the architect Henri Ciriani, opened in 1995 on the peninsula once occupied by the Roman circus, and gained an extension in 2012. It brings together Arles' archaeological collections: mosaics, early Christian sarcophagi, and the Gallo-Roman barge Arles-Rhône 3, raised from the river in 2011.
