Set in the former university palace on the quai Émile-Zola, the museum was formed from the revolutionary seizures of 1794 and the cabinet of curiosities of the Marquis de Robien. It holds European paintings from the 14th to the 20th century, including Georges de La Tour's The Newborn, and a graphic arts collection of international standing.
