France's first museum devoted to naive art, created in 1967 after the painter Jules Lefranc, a native of Laval, donated his collection. Housed in the Vieux-Château de Laval, the birthplace of Douanier Rousseau, it presents the modern primitives — Rousseau, Séraphine de Senlis, André Bauchant — and outsider art.
