A satellite of the Louvre, opened in December 2012 on the site of the former Pit No. 9 of the Lens mines, in a complex of glass and aluminium pavilions designed by the Japanese firm SANAA. Its Galerie du Temps unfolds five millennia of art history in a single chronological display, whose masterpieces on loan from Paris are regularly rotated.
