The museum occupies a Renaissance mansion built in 1559 by Jacques d'Abancourt, enlarged in 1608 and then acquired in 1662 by Carthusian monks, who added a chapel, refectory and chapter house. Opened in 1958, it brings together more than 10,000 works, including Jean Bellegambe's Anchin polyptych and Flemish and Italian paintings.
