Fortress of the viscounts of Béarn remodelled by Gaston Fébus in the 14th century and then embellished during the Renaissance by Henri d'Albret and Marguerite d'Angoulême, it witnessed the birth of Henri IV in 1553. Restored under Louis-Philippe and then Napoleon III, it has been a national museum since 1927 and holds a rich collection of tapestries.
