Museum born from the natural history cabinet of the pharmacist François-René Dubuisson, bought by the city in 1806 and opened in 1810. It has occupied a building erected for it on Place de la Monnaie by the architect Gustave Bourgerel since 1875, one of the first in France designed specifically for a natural history museum. It is closed for renovation until 2029.
