Avignon's museum of natural history, born from the cabinet assembled in 1840 by the naturalist Esprit Requien, who bequeathed his collections and library to the city. Housed since 1940 in the Hôtel de Raphélis-Soissans, it holds around a million specimens, including the fifth-largest herbarium in France.
