Archaeological area of Albintimilium, capital of the ancient Ligurian Intemelii and later a Roman municipium from 89 BC, laid out on a grid plan along the Via Julia Augusta. Excavations conducted from the late 19th century onward, notably by Girolamo Rossi and Nino Lamboglia, have revealed a theatre, baths with the mosaic known as the Arion Mosaic, residential blocks and a necropolis of around 185 tombs.
