Memorial chapel in Monza marking the spot where King Umberto I of Italy was assassinated by the anarchist Gaetano Bresci on 29 July 1900, commissioned by Queen Margherita and King Victor Emmanuel III and designed by Giuseppe Sacconi, architect of the Vittoriano in Rome, completed after his death by Guido Cirilli and inaugurated in 1910. The 35-metre circular structure, decorated with Byzantine-style mosaics and polychrome marble, stands over a Greek-cross crypt marking the exact site of the killing and houses a Pietà by Lodovico Pogliaghi.
