Museum in the Palazzo Ducale of the Certosa di Pavia, the Carthusian monastery that served as a summer residence for the Visconti and Sforza dukes of Milan, its facade redesigned in 1625 by Francesco Maria Richini. Founded as an institution in 1892 and opened to the public in 1911 under the architect Luca Beltrami, who modelled it on Paris's Trocadéro, it displays over 200 plaster casts, sculptures by Giovanni Antonio Amadeo and Agostino Busti ('il Bambaia'), and paintings by Bramantino, Bernardino Luini and Vincenzo Campi.
