Wall painting of the Last Supper executed by Leonardo da Vinci between 1494 and 1498 in the refectory of the Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, commissioned by Duke Ludovico Sforza, known as Il Moro. Painted in tempera and oil on dry plaster rather than true fresco, it deteriorated rapidly and underwent a major restoration completed in 1999; the convent has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1980.
