A small pentagonal fortress overlooking the village of San Terenzo, a hamlet of Lerici on the Gulf of Poets, built from 1360 around an earlier watchtower to defend the coast against pirate raids. With its square keep and later corner towers and barbican, it worked alongside the larger Lerici castle to guard the gulf, and since 2014 it has been managed as a museum by Italy's regional museum authority.
