Historic estate on the island of Caprera, near La Maddalena in Sardinia, where Giuseppe Garibaldi settled permanently from 1856 and built his home, the Casa Bianca, later enlarged in 1861 and 1880; he died there on 2 June 1882 and is buried in the family cemetery on the grounds. Occupied by his descendants until 1959, the estate opened as a museum in 1978 and preserves the house with its original furnishings, alongside farm buildings and personal memorabilia.
