Baroque palace built for Pope Urban VIII by the architect Carlo Maderno, its grand salon crowned by Pietro da Cortona's ceiling fresco, the Allegory of Divine Providence, glorifying the Barberini family. Together with Palazzo Corsini it forms the National Galleries of Ancient Art, and houses paintings by Caravaggio, Raphael's La Fornarina, Titian's Venus and Adonis, Hans Holbein the Younger's portrait of Henry VIII, and works by Guercino.
