National museum in Palazzo Venezia, one of Rome's earliest Renaissance palaces, built from 1455 for the Venetian cardinal Pietro Barbo, later Pope Paul II, and used in the 20th century as Benito Mussolini's official office. Its collections range across medieval and Renaissance sculpture, decorative arts, tapestries and paintings, including bronzes and ceramics from the papal and Farnese periods of the building's history.
