Castle and park on the Gulf of Trieste, built between 1856 and 1860 for Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg, later Emperor of Mexico, and his wife Charlotte of Belgium. The museum preserves the couple's original 19th-century apartments, while the surrounding park combines formal and English-style gardens with rare botanical species.
