National archaeological museum established in 1882 by the Austrian authorities, building on an 18th-century collection formed by Canon Gian Domenico Bertoli. Housed in Villa Cassis Faraone, with porticoed lapidary galleries added in 1898, it preserves statues, household and decorative objects, gems, amber and coins from Roman Aquileia.
