Former royal residence in Naples, begun in 1600 to a design by Domenico Fontana as the palace of the Spanish viceroys and later home to the Bourbon kings of Naples. Its facade bears eight niche statues of the kings who ruled the city, added in 1888, and its state apartments preserve royal furnishings and a court theatre.
