Etruscan burial ground on a ridge outside Tarquinia, in use from the late 7th to the 2nd century BC and renowned for the largest surviving body of Etruscan painted tomb art. Rock-cut chamber tombs are decorated with frescoes of banquets, dancers, musicians and funerary games, among them the Tomb of the Leopards, the Tomb of Hunting and Fishing, and the Tomb of the Augurs. A UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004, together with the Banditaccia necropolis at Cerveteri.
