Park in Valtellina protecting the Rupe Magna, the largest engraved alpine rock face known, discovered in 1966 by archaeologist Davide Pace on land above the town of Grosio. Its surface bears more than 5,000 carvings of human and animal figures, geometric motifs and everyday objects made between the late Neolithic and the Iron Age; the park was established in 1978 after the surrounding land, including a ruined castle, was donated to the state.
