Doric temple dedicated to Hera, built in the 6th century BCE in an extraurban sanctuary near Metaponto that marked the border between the Greek colony's territory and that of rival Taranto. Of an original peristyle of 32 columns, 15 survive standing, making it, alongside the temples of Paestum, one of the best-preserved examples of Greek architecture in southern Italy.
