Archaeological museum in Matera, the oldest in Basilicata, founded in 1911 when senator and physician Domenico Ridola donated his archaeological collections to the state. Housed in the former convent of Santa Chiara, it displays material from the Paleolithic to the 3rd century BC, including Neolithic Serra d'Alto pottery and red-figure vases by the Pisticci Painter.
