First-floor apartment at 140 Grande Rue in Besançon, where Victor Hugo was born on 26 February 1802 while his father was stationed there with his garrison. Bought by the town in 1932 and opened as a museum in 2013, it is devoted to the writer's humanist causes: poverty, the death penalty, freedom of expression and children's rights.
