Museum opened in 1992 in part of the former Ursuline convent, built in the 17th century in the Montferrand district. It unfolds a chronological trail from the Middle Ages, with its Romanesque sculptures and Auvergne Virgins in Majesty, to the 20th century, with paintings by Philippe de Champaigne, Boucher and Vernet.
