Museum born from the bequest made to Clermont-Ferrand in 1885 by the industrialist Jean-Baptiste Bargoin and inaugurated in 1903 in a building by the architect Joseph Dionnet. On the ground floor it presents regional archaeology, from prehistory to the Middle Ages, and upstairs a remarkable collection of textiles and carpets.
