Founded in 1946 on the initiative of the historian Michel de Boüard, this museum of history and society has been housed since 1963 in the Logis des Gouverneurs, a 14th-century building within the grounds of Caen Castle. Its collections trace the history of Normandy, from prehistory to the 20th century.
